This week on Winning In Business, Angus Pryor Number one Google-ranked dental marketer in Australia and Practice Growth Specialist will be sharing with you about being embarrassed about your business.
Ever been embarrassed about your business? Now look, I’m going to speak to you straight from the heart today about being embarrassed about your business. And this is something that I’ve learnt. First of all, if you’ve never been embarrassed about your business that I have to say to you, honestly, you’re probably not innovating, you’re probably not trying new things.
Because if you know what you produce, you never ever feel that it’s less than perfect, then I’d say you’re not making changes, and you’re probably ultimately not going to find yourself with a growing business. But let’s assume that you aren’t one of those people and that you are trying to grow and you are prepared to take chances, then it’s almost inevitable at times, you’ve been embarrassed about your business.
And I can tell you from my point of view, this has happened multiple times. I don’t like it when it happens. I feel embarrassed. I don’t like being associated with the business. And yet, this is the price of moving forward. So one of the things that I’ve learned in doing this, there’s been times I think, I can’t show my face in the dental industry because of what we’ve done. And this is what I’ve realised. People are not thinking about you nearly as much as you’re thinking about yourself. That’s my reality.
There’s been times where I think we’ve done things that are really poor. And yet people I found it so they’re not even really think about it. Oh, you know, there’s Angus again, he’s trying something new. So just be aware, making mistakes, doing stuff, it’s embarrassing, of course, we want to minimise it. Of course, we want to recover well when we screw up. But it’s also an indication that your business is actually moving forward and growing.
So if you’re making those mistakes, if you’re doing stuff that embarrasses you, of course we want to minimise it, but it’s inevitable. If you’re going to be a business that’s growing. I hope that’s helpful. Just be aware, people aren’t thinking about you nearly as much as you’re thinking about yourself. Just dust yourself off, recover, we’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again and then move forward. And look, I’d like to help you with your business. So I’ve got a free resource. It’s 101 ways to attract more patients to your business. And if you visit AngusPryor.com/101-ways, that’s my free gift to you 101 ways to bring more patients to your practice.
