The purpose of your business is to…? Look, I’ve got a big tree up there. And this tree started small and grew really big. And it begs the question, what is the purpose of your business? If it starts small and grows big? And you’d say, Well, the answer to that is probably growth. And I’d say that’s true.
Growth is definitely one of the perks of your business. The other purpose according to Peter Drucker is profit. And I was talking to someone recently, and I said, Well, what’s the profit of your business? And I said, Well, I don’t know. I said, Well, let’s find out and they didn’t know I’m a hairdresser, accountant. And the accountant didn’t know either. They had to work it out.
This is what I’ve learned. If you want good profit in your business, it doesn’t happen by accident. Nobody falls into higher levels of profit. No business falls into great systems like they have to be deliberate about it. So according to Peter Drucker, the purpose of your business is to turn a profit and the question is, do you know what it is and if you don’t, that’s your homework.
