What’s Your Practice Really Saying About You?

Does your outside match your inside?

Hi, everyone. Angus Pryor here, a multi-award-winning practice growth specialist. At the moment, I’m in country Victoria, to the east of Melbourne, enjoying a day trip with my wife. As we drove past a café we’d seen before, she remarked, “I’ve never stopped there—I don’t think the coffee is very good.” The curious thing is, neither of us actually knew whether the coffee was good or not. What influenced her perception? The outside of the café, which looked a bit tired and rundown. It’s possible the coffee was amazing, but the exterior suggested otherwise. This made me think about healthcare practices—does the outside of your facility reflect the quality of care inside?

A former guest on my podcast, Practice Growth HQ, Graham Middleton, shared another insight about well-established practices. He noted that sometimes even the inside of a practice can appear outdated. While patients may continue visiting due to their relationship with you, they may stop referring their friends because they’re no longer proud of the space. So, does your outside reflect your inside? And more importantly, does your inside match the level of clinical services you offer? When these elements are out of sync, people might hesitate to visit or recommend your practice.

See you next time!
