Three business lessons from my recent trip to the US.
I’ve just returned from the Midwinter Meeting in Chicago, a dental conference about three times the size of the biggest one in Australia. While there, I picked up three key business lessons that could help your practice grow.
The first is about standing out from the crowd. Before the conference, I spent a week in Miami and was surprised at how visible dental practices were. I saw TV ads for implants while sitting in a café and even attended a live event sponsored by a local practice. With so much competition, dentists in the US are working harder than ever to get noticed.
The second lesson is about additional services. I spoke to the marketing manager of a DSO with 20 practices, and when I asked about their focus for 2024, the answer was clear—more implants, more ortho, more high-value treatments. Expanding services is a big priority for growing practices.
The third lesson is about embracing new tech. I saw phone systems that instantly pull up a patient’s record when they call. AI is even being used for call scoring and feedback, helping practices track and improve how they handle inquiries.
