Is Your Dental Website Making These Two Big Mistakes?

Two things to never have on your website.

Hi everyone, Angus Pryor here multi-award-winning practice growth specialist. Now look, we’ve been talking some clients lately, I’ve been reviewing some websites. And I’ve seen two things on our website that you should never ever do. The first one is really simple. And that is to put images of people with their mouth open with things being stuck in them. Like, do you realise that half the Australian population has got a dental phobia? I’m not going to show you the website. It is literally just there. I’m looking at it. They’ve got a photo of two dentists poking in the mouth. And then there’s someone here, you know, it’s meant to look caring, they’ve got their hand across their head, it looks like they’re holding them down. Do not put photos on your dental website of people receiving dental treatment. Half the population is scared to come. And the other half doesn’t really want to think about it. Because let’s face it, as a patient, when you’re lying there with your mouth open, you don’t see that. Most of what happens you’re oblivious to. So definitely don’t put those images there. No retractor shot. You know, for a non-dental practice, that is for people who don’t work in the dental industry, that is something definitely not to do.

Alright, here’s the second one. And this one, I am going to say what it says. These are the first words on this website. Why is preventative care important? Click here to find out. And I have to say that sounds like great questions for other dentists. Most patients, they’re not thinking that. They’re not thinking, oh, I’ve got a website, I wonder about the importance of preventive care. They’re not. They’ve got a dental need, like the preventative care is your job dentist, by all means educate me. But the first thing that’s going on in my mind is not preventative dental care. It’s, I’ve got a dental problem. How can you fix it? What are you doing for me? So be very careful with any images that have got people sticking things in mouths, may be a mirror, but I don’t even really like that. And secondly, be very careful about the first words you usher on a website. I mean, what is it, what is the thing that was the conversation that’s happening in the head of your patient? Because I can tell you it’s not about the importance of preventative care. Sorry for a bit of a rant, but I want to save you from the trouble, so you get a better return from your website. If you’d like a hand by all means, click on the link below and book and let’s talk. See you next time.
