How to stand out in a sea of sameness

How to stand out in a sea of sameness.

Hi everyone, Angus Pryor here, mostly award-winning practice growth specialist. Now right now I’m in Sydney on here for a conference. Just a little sweep around. And I’m in some streets that are not super major. But it is, you know, one of the things we face, particularly in a busy CBD area where, you know, and perhaps people aren’t going into the city as much as they used to is, how do you stand out? I mean, it’s not uncommon in CBDs, all over Australia and internationally to see the for lease signs. Because people, they get an idea, they think, Oh, this will be fantastic. I’ll set up my business and everyone will love me.

The problem is very simple. There are so many other businesses here, whatever the thing is, I’ve counted three dentists in the last few 100 metres here. And how do you stand out now, from one point of view, it is helpful to have been in business for a long time and then eventually, bit by bit people come to know you. But the problem with that approach is, it can take a really long time. And if you’re trying to start a new business, it’s much more difficult. The key really is about what we call multi point attention, which is to be getting people’s attention in as many ways as possible, and particularly online. You know, the reality is the success of these businesses has got a little bit to do with a foot traffic, but a lot to do with their presence. Someone moves into the area, someone needs something. They look it up and they’re they find them. So how do we stand out in a sea of sameness? It’s about that multipoint attention. Catch you next time.
