This week on Winning In Business, Angus Pryor the Practice Growth Specialist will be sharing with you that success is not about luck, success leaves clues.
Just don’t tell me they’re lucky. Now, in this episode, I wanted to speak to you straight from the heart. If you are wanting to be more successful in business, then you need to understand that success leaves clues. Before I unpack that, I want to tell you a story. I know two and there’s probably many more, but there’s two that come to mind, very successful business people.
And by that, I mean, people who’ve made a lot of money in business. They’ve invested wisely, and they literally don’t have to work again, never in their life. They’ve got enough income for the rest of their life to live very comfortable lives. And these guys are in their 40s, it’s not as though they’re 90. And one of the things they both said to me is that people say to them at times, “Oh, you’re so lucky.” And I hear this in business as well.
I want to say to you, it is not about luck, success leaves clues. For any kind of sustained success that is not through luck. There’s an expression that says, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.” Now, this is how I observe this in dental land. I worked consulting one-on-one with practice all over Australia and the ones that are lucky are the ones that constantly follow through and step out of their comfort zone. It’s no coincidence. Success leaves clues.
You know, we had a training event recently and I’ve seen this happen many times before, the very big successful practices, the whole team turns up to the training session. Arguably they’re the ones maybe be who don’t need it. But then the people who do need it, they don’t turn up. Success leaves clues, which leads me to this. If we were to take a look at your life and you know, your efforts in business, what would be the clues that you would be leaving behind? Would they be ultimately pointing to success or would they be pointing to some other destination? So there it is, success leaves clues.
