Global trend hits dentistry

A global trend hits dentistry.

Hi everyone, Angus Pryor here, multi-award-winning practice growth specialist. Now look, in manufacturing, one of the things that’s happened globally is to the manufacturing tends to be pushed to the countries that it’s most efficient to be manufacturing. And these days lots and lots of things are manufactured in China, including Mercedes, Apple, et cetera, et cetera. But here’s the new trend that I’m seeing, which is pushing the labour market to the most efficient countries on here on a cruise ship. And if we look at the team members there, they tend to be from India, from China, from a whole bunch of countries in Southeast Asia and indeed in the Philippines. And that becomes really efficient because it makes sense for those people to come and work in an environment like this. And it’s great for the company, because they can get labour cheaper, it’s fair to say, and these people provide a great service.

Now that global trend, which is sort of pushing labour around the world, I think is now hitting dentistry. How does it work? The first thing is that it’s now possible through technology for dental practices in Australia and New Zealand to have support from the Philippines, which is on the same time zone as W.A. providing phone support, admin support and a whole range of things. And basically, what it does is it frees up the Australian team to perform the higher value work, and then manages to ship out that lower value work to people from other countries. And to give you an idea, that can operate at about a third of what your investment would be if you were doing that in Australia. But it frees up the Australian labour market to perform at a higher level. And in fact, it doesn’t take away jobs, it increases those jobs, because the business grows faster. Look, if you’re interested in having a look at that in dentistry, then check out dental stars.com.au, dentalstars.com.au for how you can outsource that lower value stuff and upskill and outperform your team. Catch you next time.
